About Us
Our Mission
A marketplace of products and perspectives for people with Parkinson's.
Most online retailers focus on what sells, not what helps people with a disease like Parkinson's. Parkinson's Market was built around the premise of what helps for the daily realities of living with PD.
Why We Chose This
What makes Parkinson’s Market unique is the Why We Chose This section.
Every product we list has been vetted with you, the person with PD in mind.
- Is the fish oil formulated with ingredients that matters with PD?
- Does the step-stool have a wide enough anti-slip base for balance issues?
- Do the ingredients interact with common PD medications?
The Why We Chose This section details our thinking for the merits of the product and why we think it deserves your consideration.
But don't just take our word for it, contribute to our community and reviews.
Paying It Forward
The reviews on Parkinson's Market are written by people with Parkinson's, for people with Parkinson's. Not by marketers, not by influencers, full disclosure, I have 150 followers on Instagram, so that particular threat is contained, but by people who use these products in real life and know the difference between what a description promises and what actually works.
We take that seriously. If the community finds genuine value in a product we've passed on – we want to know. Our curation is a conversation, not a decree. The goal is a marketplace that earns trust over time because the people who need it most are helping shape it.
Parkinson's Market is as much about what we don't sell as what we do.
Founder’s Story
I was born and raised in Canada. A career I'm grateful for has taken me to live in the United States, Australia, Qatar, and the UAE, and to travel to more than 60 countries — almost always with my wife and travel buddy, Sarah, beside me. She keeps me going.
Six years ago, I noticed my big toe vibrating while I exercised. My grandmother had Parkinson’s Disease. My father has Parkinson’s Disease. I knew immediately what it meant: I had Parkinson’s Disease. My dominant symptoms are tremors, which recently moved bilaterally. I'm on a dopamine agonist and, thankfully, the side effects have been minimal.
My core regimen consists of nutrition, exercise, and sleep. Sport and training have been central to my life for as long as I can remember, and that hasn't changed since my diagnosis. If anything, Parkinson's has made me more deliberate about staying active. I'm happy to share what's worked and what hasn't, as a peer, not a doctor.
I founded Parkinson's Market because I got tired of the constant digging. Every time someone posted about a product, I had to go on an Easter egg hunt looking up information about the best formulation or contraindications with my PD meds. Frustrated by that experience, I wanted to create a community and market where you can discuss and buy products fully informed.
So I decided to build one. I hope you find it as useful as I have.
I'll be sharing more of the journey, what living with Parkinson's looks like day to day, what I'm learning, what's working and what isn't, in the Parkinson's Market community blog. I invite you to follow along, ask questions, and share your stories.
