Why we chose this

Nights are often when things get hardest. Getting out of bed in the dark during an off-period, when movement is slow to start and turning is awkward, is one of the moments PwP and their families worry about most. We chose this mat because it is genuinely thick enough to make a difference underfoot, yet the bevelled edges keep it flush with the floor - so many mats create the very trip hazard they were bought to soften. The rubber backing is the other reason: it stays put on hard floors rather than sliding away when weight lands on it. It also gives a warmer, more secure surface to stand on first thing.

Good to know

  • The mat is 72" long, so measure the clear floor space beside the bed before ordering - it needs room to lie flat without curling against a wall or nightstand.
  • Many PwP find it helps to keep the route from bed to bathroom clear and consistently lit, so the mat isn't the only thing making that trip easier.
  • The waterproof top wipes clean with mild soap, then dry it straight away with a cloth rather than leaving it damp.
  • The low beveled edges mean a rollator or wheelchair can be rolled across the mat rather than around it.

Color

The Vive Bedside Fall Mat lays alongside the bed to give a softer, more forgiving surface underfoot. At 72" long it spans the length of most beds, and the high-density foam core is 7/8" thick - substantial enough to cushion the floor without standing proud of it.

The edges are bevelled and sit low to the ground, so there is no lip to catch a toe or a walker wheel, and a wheelchair or rollator can be brought straight across the mat. A textured PVC top gives traction for bare feet or slippers, and the SBR rubber backing keeps the mat from creeping across the floor.

The surface is waterproof and wipes clean with mild soap and a dry cloth. Available in light grey or beige. One size: 72" x 24" x 7/8".

Lay the mat flat on the floor alongside the bed with the rubber backing down and the bevelled edges sloping outwards. Position it so it covers the area where feet land on getting out of bed, keeping it clear of walls and furniture so it can lie completely flat. Check periodically that it has not shifted. Clean by hand with mild soap and dry immediately with a dry cloth.
