Why we chose this

Tight, stiff feet overnight and awkward first steps in the morning are a familiar pattern for a lot of people living with Parkinson's, and a splint works passively - it asks nothing of you once it is on, which is the whole appeal. We chose this one over a plain splint because of the removable wedges: you can start with no wedge at all and add stretch only when it feels right, rather than committing to a fixed position from the first night. The three wide straps are also easier to line up than narrow ones, and the padding means it can be worn against bare skin.

Good to know

  • This splint is for wearing in bed, not for walking in - so if you tend to get up during the night, it is good thinking through in advance how you will manage that, because undoing three straps half-asleep in the dark is genuinely challenging.
  • Many PwP find it easiest to have someone help with fitting for the first few nights until the strap positions become familiar, then mark the strap settings so they can be repeated.
  • Start without the foam wedges and add one only once the splint itself feels comfortable - there is no benefit to rushing the amount of stretch.
  • Sizing runs by US shoe size and the splint accommodates wide fittings.

This splint is worn in bed to hold the foot in a neutral, gently stretched position through the night. It suits anyone who wakes to tight, stiff feet and finds the first steps of the morning the hardest part of getting going.

A rigid outer shell does the holding, and it is lined with breathable foam under an ultra-soft cover so it is comfortable against bare skin or over a sock. Three wide straps with strong fasteners hold it steady without twisting or sliding overnight. Two removable foam wedges let you set how much stretch you want - use both, one, or neither. A studded massage ball is included.

Fits either the left or right foot and is latex-free. Four sizes by US shoe size, in grey or black. The lining is removable; hand wash in cool water, dab with a towel and air dry fully before wearing again.

  • Holds the foot in a neutral position overnight with a padded rigid shell
  • Adjusts the amount of stretch using two removable foam wedges — use both, one, or neither
  • Fastens with three wide straps designed not to twist or slide during the night
  • Fits either the left or right foot; latex-free; four sizes by US shoe size
  • Includes a studded massage ball; removable lining for hand washing

Sit down to fit the splint. Place the foot inside so the heel is seated at the back of the shell, then fasten the three straps from the ankle down, keeping them snug but not tight. Add a foam wedge under the forefoot only if you want more stretch - both wedges, one, or neither can be used. Remove the splint before standing or walking; it is designed for wear in bed only. To clean, remove the lining and hand wash in cool water with mild soap, dab with a towel to take out most of the water, then air dry fully before the next use.
